Sorry Mario, that's number one on my list

After thousands of fan designs and many failed attempts to get Nintendo to partner with LEGO, the time has finally come.

A Mario set is set to release this year, but while the prospect of the partnership is exciting, the initial kit seems rather limited for what is essentially a limitless toy. Nintendo noted that they had “lots of exciting IPs,” fans actually crafted the best ideas.

Mario has big name recognition, sure, but Zelda is arguably the perfect flagship IP to sell the concept of exciting handcrafted worlds. Fans have proven it time and time again, as this new Zelda: Breath of the Wild Hyrule Castle kit from BrickGallery is absolutely breathtaking.

The kit contains "several guardians, Calamity Ganon, a Korok, a link (with paraglider, shield and Hylian sword) and materials to build Hyrule Castle. In other words, it's a "Christmas gift from your wealthy non-immediate family member "" As a reminder, this is a fan concept from the official "Lego Ideas" website, which serves as breeding ground for possible official kits. Both parties have to actually approve the idea, which is not the case for Nintendo-based IP.

Now that the partnership is complete, that could change.
