'The last Stand'
Left 4 Dead 2 has survived longer than anyone thought. 2022's co-op zombie shooter is still going strong, proving it has the guts not to die yet. It will even be updated soon.
The Left 4 Dead community is hard at work on a fan-made update to L4D2 called "The Last Stand". This isn't your usual effort of a handful of modders, though. The Last Stand received Valve's blessing, as the official Left 4 Dead site uses its blog section to link to the trailer.
The name refers to the "Last Stand" map that was available in the original Left 4 Dead in Survival mode. It's also the only Left 4 Dead map that ultimately wasn't included in the sequel. This update will apparently fix that.
Here is the official description of The Last Stand: “It has been many years since the infection first struck. Radio silence, no signs of life, only lingering hopes… CEDA is not going to save us. But there is hope! few brave souls have continued the fight against overwhelming odds, and soon we will all be able to benefit from their resilience. "
This isn't the first time Valve has been involved in Left 4 Dead community efforts. In 2022, Valve helped launch the Cold Stream modding campaign on PC and the Xbox 360 marketplace. Once The Last Stand is over, Valve can once again help us out by making Left 4 Dead 3.
